PCB Assembly

Thanks to many years of experience in producing and assembling PCBs in the production of cash registers and industrial computers, we have plenty of experience that we can offer our customers through cooperative production. At present, we are assembling PCBs for our clients in the following areas: audio systems and audio Hi-Fi systems, measuring devices, medical devices and instruments, safes for banking institutions, public lighting, remote control for lights and welding equipment.

PCB technology enables more than 60,000 PCBs per month, while the installation capacity represents more than 45,000 components/h on two fully automated assembly lines, ensuring accuracy and excellent reliability of assembly, also thanks to the use of Philips assembly machines.

Our technology for the assembly of printed circuit boards allows:

  • flexible inovation of production
  • significant acceleration of the production process
  • RoHS (Lead-free) compatible production technology

The quality of production is ensured by the application of the ISO 9001 quality management system in practice. All employees who participate in production are trained and tested yearly in performance-technologic operation rules and in international standard for acceptance rules in electronics IPC A 610. They are trained by certified trainer for high quality assurance of products.

All standard world technologies use the electronic assembly of printed circuit boards such as:

  • SMD – Surface Mount Devices (pin-free technology or lead-free technology of electronic components) assembling and soldering
  • THT – Through Hole Technology (pin-technology or lead technology of electronic components) assembling and soldering
  • automatic testing methods – optical and electrical

SMD – Surface Mount Device

The surface mount technology (SMT) is also known as surface mount of electronic components technology. In this type of technology, the electronic components are mounted to board surface by hand and component soldering is performed by Reflow machine. SMD assembling is performed through modern assembly machine - Philips Assembleon and efficiency is up to 45, 000 components per hour. The advanteges of SMD assembly are smaller component size saves board space and cost, higher flexibility of PCB design, compatibility with high-volume electronics assembly, fulfilment of regulatory requirements and higher voltage ratings allow use in new application.

The screen-printing stencil application of tinning paste and SMT glues is performed through DEK´s superior screen-printing machines. Tinning paste smelting and toughening SMT glues is performed through efficient ERSA 14-zone reflow oven with using the nitrogen which prevents the excessive oxidation at the tinning process. The whole technological process from paste and glue applying to smelting is performed fully automatic without hand contact. NUTEK – online machines, conveyors and buffers of superior japanese quality provide the printed circuit boards movement.

Wave assembling and soldering

Wave soldering is a large-scale soldering process by which electronic components are soldered to a printed circuit board (PCB) to form an complex electronic assembly. Electronic boards are after the manual positioning of components soldered using the laminar and turbulent soldering wave of the ERSA soldering device. The device is equipped with laminar and SMD jets and a spray fluxer that allows for precise feeding. Printed circuit boards, which are assembled by lead-technology of components, are soldered using the automatic laminar and turbulent jet device ERSA EWS 330 and again with using the nitrogen obscuration for prevention the oxidation at the tinning process. In soldering is used the quality lead-free tin according to RoHS regulations for protection of the environment.

All of our technologies also fulfil strict EU environmental requirements regarding lead-free soldering.

Assembling and hand soldering through hole-mount technology

ELCOM also offers the PCB assembling through surface-mount and hole-mount technology with using the most modern high-technologies. Assembling and hand soldering of printed circuit boards is performed in situations with oversized PCB, atypical components, combination of SMT and standard assembling etc.

Coating device SSC 100

The customer has the option of using PCB varnishes as a protection against weathering and other effects by automatic painting equipment from KC Produkte. This device ensures fast and intelligent paint control, the highest possible reliability process and additionally, it protects the environment due to zero solvent emissions. SSC 100 is a compact device designed for the conformal, selective coating of a PCB with surface varnish. The varnish is applied in the form of injection or casting, and the paint quality is controlled by UV light. Thanks to the varnish, PCBs are more resistant to external environmental influences, such as moisture, dust and accidental physical damage by flying particles.

Special assembly

Special assembly is the other technology of PCB assembling. ELCOM deals with the assembly and sub-assembly production of different types. This production uses activities witch includes moulding, filling-up, deilling, screwing, component painting and forming and cable soldering. The leaded components are formed on modern forming device OLAMEF and components are manual assembled in the assembling line workplaces.
